Spelling Fun! October 16, 2008
I never liked spelling growing up, and it shows now! I found this great interactive site for kids that will help them with their spelling and critical thinking all while having a great time! My favorite game was the Alien Hangman! They have games for almost every area. This would be a great indoor recess activity. The site is called Interactive Literacy Activities for Kids.

I found a great website by The Center For Teaching History With Technology. It is a great hub for technology resources for the history field. There are links to virtual tours, wiki’s, lesson plans and much more. This is a site could be a great asset to any level of teacher

I am amazed at the ability to find all types of information online. Today I forgot what the term was to express that 2×3 is the same as 3×2. I looked in my notes and I didn’t write it down. I happend across a math dictionary that was really neat. Since I knew that the word started with a C it was easy to find from there. Sometimes I underestimate the power of the internet… By the way the word is commutative

A New Way to Look at Math September 23, 2008
I grew up thinking that there was only one way to do addition problems. It turns out that is false. In fact there are many different algorithms for addition problems. My favorite at the moment is the way that addition is done in Mexico. Add left to right!!
Eg.
1 1 5
+ 75
_______
1 8 – add 1+0 for the hundreds place and 1+7 for the tens place
10 – add 5+5 for the ones place. Since that is 10 the 1 goes in the tens place, and 0 in the

The Big Bang Part II September 16, 2008
The recreation of the big bang was the point of the Large Hadron Collider. By forcing protons together scientists hope to find “dark matter” this complicated subject is made understandable by this youtube video.
